Horton's big ears hear a cry from the speck, and he makes sacrifices, faces ridicule, and risks exclusion to protect the life on the speck.
When Horton is captured and the speck is about to be destroyed, the cries from Whoville reach the ears of the other animals in the jungle, and their lives are saved.
The tragedy is that the child in the womb doesn't have a voice. No one can hear her cry.
But we don't need elephant sized ears, all we need are eyes that can see, a mind that can think and a heart that can feel.
Premise one: It is wrong to take the life of an innocent human being.
Premise two: Abortion takes the life of an innocent human being.
Conclusion: Therefore, abortion is wrong.
Premise one is obviously true. Premise two is just as obviously true. The foetus is clearly human - what else could it be? It's not canine, bovine or feline. It is a distinct human being with its own DNA. That means the conclusion is obviously true.
Horton was right - a person's a person, no matter how small. Good on Horton for protecting them. I hope the people in Ireland will do the same.
