Joy and peace

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing… (Romans 15:13)

"Perfect peace, and at such a time"

Here's a video I did that I hope you find helpful in these strange times we are in!

Understanding the Gospel

I've been helping with a website aimed at giving information about the gospel message and the Christian life. It has been launched today. I hope you'll have a look at it and that you'll find it helpful.

I'll put a video or link to an article here every once in a while.

Have a look at this:

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence? OK then.

We often hear from atheists that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. They think the Christian is obliged to provide this extraordinary evidence to support his "extraordinary" claims, but the gun they are holding is pointing at themselves.

Idolatry

Idolatry
Everyone is a worshipper. Everyone has a deity.

Imagine...

Imagine
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today... Aha-ah...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
John Lennon (1971)
John Lennon invites us to imagine what it would be like if there were no heaven or hell. Let’s do just that.

Can I trust the Bible?

Here is an article I was asked to write on this subject. Hope you find it helpful, whatever your answer was to the question.

Making life worth living?

Stephen Fry has vented his fury at the idea of a God who would allow such suffering in the world. There have been a few very good responses (for example, here, here and here), I offer my own here...

History Lessons

I had a chat the other day with a man I have butted heads with a couple of times in the past (see here, here, here and here!)

An asset not a liability

I believe God's way is always the best way, but sometimes it sure doesn't seem like it. I have often thought that the way God revealed Himself in scripture, i.e. various writers over many centuries, recorded in thousands of manuscripts and fragments etc. seems a bit...I dunno...messy. I don't think that way anymore, and I want to tell you why.

A letter to an atheist

I got into a conversation with a convinced atheist a couple of weeks ago. He brought up a few "atrocities" in the Bible, and God allowing evil in the world. When I tried to challenge him about what basis he, as an atheist, had for condemning any behaviour he ignored me and changed the subject. Thinking he might interact more coherently in print, I wrote him a letter which I have copied below. I will put my further correspondence to him in another post.

Convincing conversion!

I want to pass on a story that I think pretty convincingly shows the reality of God and the Gospel.

Atheism's blindspot

I have just listened to a pretty poor debate between Peter Hitchens and atheist Alex Gabriel (you can find it here if you're interested).

What's the use?

The "Unbelievable?" radio show on 18th February was on the subject, "Is apologetics a waste of time?"

You're brainwashed, the TV told me!

I met a man yesterday who has similar characteristics to the man I told you about in my last post.

The argument from outer space!

I was listening to atheist Dr Stephen Law in discussion with a Christian by the name of James Orr a few weeks ago (here). They were talking about why people believe strange things. The conversation then focused on the resurrection of Christ, and this is where Dr Law, in my humble opinion, needed to stop throwing stones or else get out of the glass house he was in, because hearing his reasons for denying God's existence and Christianity leaves him no room or right to talk about other people holding beliefs for inadequate reasons!
