A previous blog post dealt with some moral issues Jesus didn’t mention directly. This one looks at a theological issue – why didn’t He say, “I am God”?

Why didn't He say something?
Sometimes
silence says a lot, and other times people read too much into it.
I have met challenges on four areas to do with Jesus' supposed failure to speak. Three of them are moral issues, which we will look at now, and one is theological, which we will look at in a later blog post.

"What sacrifice?" or "What a sacrifice!"
I had an interesting
conversation recently with an atheist (Robert) which was wide-ranging and led
into many areas that I might write about later, but I want to focus now on one
area – the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.

Does the Bible say that Jesus is God?
Almost
all world religions have some respect for Jesus. According to Islam He was a
prophet; according to the Baha’i faith He was a “manifestation” of God; according
to Hinduism He was a perfect example of “self-realisation”; according to
Sikhism He was a holy man. But what about the Bible? There is no doubt the
Bible teaches that Jesus has a much higher status than these religions afford
Him, but just how high? Does the Bible ascribe to Him dignity or deity? We will
see in this article that the Bible doesn’t place Jesus at the top of creation; rather,
it places Him above and outside it – because He is the Creator.

Taste test
I was in conversation with a "Jehovah's witness" and was asking him about the "New World Translation".

Hail! Incarnate deity!
It has been called The Greatest Story Ever Told, and so it is. That God would enter into His creation to save those that had strayed from Him, and suffer for those who had sinned against Him, eclipses every other love story.

The Beginning?
The last of this little series on Bible texts that are used to deny the deity of Christ brings us to Revelation 3:14:
These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God...

Firstborn?
It's been a while since I've posted here, sorry about that.
There are a couple more texts to look at in this little series of texts that people use to deny the deity of Christ.

One God, the Father...?
In the last couple of posts I have written about verses that people use to deny the deity of Christ, and when we have looked at these verses more carefully we discover they actually prove He is God. We are going to look at another one here.

The inability of Christ?
I said last month that we would look at some verses that people use to support the view that Jesus Christ is not God. Today the one we are looking at is John 5:19:
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for what things soever He doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

Not so fast!
Sometimes it is easy to jump to a wrong conclusion after a surface look or shallow consideration of something. This sometimes doesn't matter, but when it comes to Scripture and the identity of Christ it matters more than anything else.

If not God then not good
I was listening to a man say that the clearest verse in the Bible that Jesus Christ did not consider Himself to be God is Mark 10 v 18:
