Can I trust the Bible?

Here is an article I was asked to write on this subject. Hope you find it helpful, whatever your answer was to the question.

Evidence for the historicity of Jesus

This is a video clip by a friend of mine giving some clear evidence for the fact of Jesus of Nazareth's existence. This is not something doubted by (practically) anyone who knows anything about history, but sadly has gained a following on the Internet and is just a lazy and ill-thought-through position.

For evidence of that, go to the YouTube page and look at the debate I had with a commenter in the response section.

An asset not a liability

I believe God's way is always the best way, but sometimes it sure doesn't seem like it. I have often thought that the way God revealed Himself in scripture, i.e. various writers over many centuries, recorded in thousands of manuscripts and fragments etc. seems a bit...I dunno...messy. I don't think that way anymore, and I want to tell you why.

New news about old news that was really no news

It has made headlines, and like anything that is potentially damaging to Christianity or disturbing to Christians, it was gullibly swallowed and gleefully spread by the media. I'm talking about this document purported to be from the fourth century in which Jesus says the words "my wife".

Now why should a document be given any credence when that document, even if authentic, isn't from the time of Christ or the land in which He lived, and doesn't even explicitly say He was married, and, even if it did, contradicts everything written about Him by those in the first century! It just displays the objectivity of the popular media I suppose (yes, my tongue is firmly in my cheek, and I'll keep it there as I say, watch all the media outlets report on the link below!!)

Dan Wallace has the following information (here), check it out, and let's move on!

"I did a google search and destroyed Christianity!"

I was talking to a man recently about salvation. When the subject was raised the man (Victor) took on a scholarly air and spoke in solemn tones and told me that, according to his research (more on that in a minute), Christianity didn't have much going for it, and neither did any other religion..

Follow up on the Law / Craig debate

I have been in correspondence with a couple of people in response to some things I said about the William Lane Craig / Stephen Law debate.

The Bible - Good Book or God's Book?

It has had a massive effect upon our society, our culture, our politics, even our language, but is the Bible just a book of great influence or is it a book of divine inspiration?  How seriously should we take it?  There are two questions that need to be addressed and we will address these questions in this post and the next.  The two questions are these:
Is the Bible reliable?
Is the Bible relevant?
Many people dismiss the Bible as unreliable mythology, others think it is irrelevant history, but let's look at the evidence.
Is the Bible reliable?
To investigate the reliability of the Bible we will address two issues:

1. Do we have what was originally written?
2. Is what was originally written really true?

1. How can we be certain that what we have in the covers of our Bible is the same as what was originally written? After all, the books of the Bible were written long ago, far away and in different languages. How can we be sure the message hasn’t been lost or corrupted over time? We don’t need to wonder or worry! The Bible stands head and shoulders above any ancient literature in terms of its reliability. Just consider the following facts:
