We live in a time when many people are obsessed with divisions.

Good news about the bad news

The gospel doesn't cater to our feel-good factor, massage our ego or cater to our pride. It tells us we are guilty, hell-deserving and helpless to do anything about it. This is one reason why the message of the gospel is hated and rejected by so many. But this teaching about our sinfulness is actually good news. Here's why:

I was in a conversation recently with a lady from a Roman Catholic background, and she asked me my views on purgatory.

Never say never?

Never say never is a good piece of advice for us to remember.  In many situations it is unwise to say you would never do such and such because, after all, we aren't omniscient - we don't know what the future will throw at us to make us eat our words.  Furthermore, we aren't omnipotent - circumstances may arise that will cause us to give in and back track and do what we said we would never do.  However, if one were omniscient and omnipotent then that person could afford to say "Never!"

Justify yourself?

I had a long conversation with another "Jehovah's Witness" last week - this time it was me calling at their door rather than them calling at mine!  I just want to give you a run down of the conversation.

Safe and secure?

It's another of the distinctives of the Gospel as opposed to other religious messages - you can know that you have eternal life now - the reason is because salvation is not by works.  But the question arises, can we lose eternal life, or is it yours forever once you have it?
